MBABANE – The Kwazi Foundation has pledged to bring smiles to unhappy ‘donors’.Kwazi Masuku, the founder of the foundation, said people who feel they were robbed would be refunded.

“After a number of consultations that I have been doing both locally and beyond our borders, I have taken a decision to refund anyone who feels his participation was not at all for helping emaSwati who are less privileged but had eyes only on  the car,” he said in a statement.

Tickets for the raffle draw cost E25 each. Masuku explained that the Win A Car project was not a competition but a charity fundraiser. “When you were donating to this initiative, you stood a chance to Win A car – a Ford Ranger Wildtrack.

Charity

“Each and every person that bought a ticket was made aware of the objectives and that is why most of the people who bought tickets participated saying they don’t care about winning but the charity cause – not unless people were never all about charity but selling us a dummy,” he said.
In addition, Masuku said those who bought tickets were made aware that there was an option of getting cash instead of the car.

He pointed out that certain people with an unknown agenda were fabricating stories so that the nation would conclude that the foundation was defrauding EmaSwati. “And it is for this reason we decided to refund anyone who feels or sees this as fraud,” Masuku said in his statement.
Masuku said the aggrieved participants should contact the agents they bought the tickets from for the refund.

He then stated that he was ready to die for his zeal, passion, commitment to help the needy. “Even if it calls for being incarcerated, we won’t be distracted by selfish people who have everything on a silver platter,” Masuku lamented.

draw

When told that some people did not believe the draw was authentic, in his defence, Masuku said it was conducted in public.
Elaborating, Masuku said the draw was witnessed by a huge crowd at the Manzini Bus rank.

“The MC of the day asked the ticket holders who came to witness the draw to choose a person of their choice to do the draw. A total stranger to us, a young boy, estimated to be around 10 years, was chosen and he came forward with another unidentified lady,” he alleged.

He mentioned that third man was asked to ruffle the tickets before the boy and the lady were blindfolded by a police officer. The boy picked the winning ticket, Masuku said. According to their records, Masuku said the winning ticket had the name Senzo Gamedze.
