MBABANE - “Police are not telling us about a second car which was at the scene when Ndaba was slain.”

These were the words of a mourner, who spoke at murdered Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) Internal Auditor Sifiso Ndaba yesterday. The memorial service was held at the Matsapha Evangelical Church yesterday.

Ndaba was killed last Sunday and two suspects, Nyiko Cossa (22) and Benjamin Maziya (20), have made a confession for his murder. They alleged that they killed him for his car, a white Audi A8. The identity of the last suspect has not been revealed as he is a minor.
Ndaba was taken from his home at Mpolonjeni and later dumped at Sigombeni mountains.

The man, who spoke on behalf of the Bersheba Evangelical Church, only identified himself as Dludlu, and he said Ndaba was his cousin. He said when Ndaba was attacked, there were two cars including his, but they were not hearing anything about the second car. He said people of Sivule, which is Ndaba’s parental home area, were angry and wanted answers on his death.

“I really don’t know the situation we will find in the area today,” he said.
He said Ndaba was helpful to the community and hence the manner in which he died had raised tempers. He said they were God-fearing, but Ndaba’s issue was very difficult for them to deal with. He said he knew that men fought fair if they had a disagreement, but the deceased was taken by surprise.

“You know how the Shiselweni region is, the situation right now is very volatile,” he said.

throngs of people
The memorial service started at around noon and was attended by throngs of people, who included his family, friends, colleagues, church members and former colleagues at Kobla Quashie.

His aunt, who spoke on behalf of the family, said the condition Ndaba was in after he was found dead was horrifying. Ndaba’s elder sister also said his brother was abused and he even asked for forgiveness, but his alleged assailants did not feel anything for him.

She said everything that happened to her brother would come to light one day. Ndaba was described by the many speakers as a man of integrity, honest, principled, focused and God-fearing.

When he opened the service, Programme Director Alec Mzileni said they had spent last Friday and Saturday with Ndaba, and they were touched by his passing on. He said he was joking as usual, and they practiced a song which they would sing the next day in church, but he was not among them. The song was sung by the men’s choir during the service.

Reverend Nicholas Nyawo then went on to deliver a sermon, which talked about death, judgment, time and preparation for death.
He said he was also present at the men’s retreat and Ndaba gave them receipts on Saturday. He said he had no idea that he would be dead in three hours. He said he heard at 1am on Monday that Ndaba had passed on, and he could not sleep afterwards. He said Ndaba played an active role and was committed to the church.

He said whatever manner Ndaba was killed in, God covered him in His grace before he passed on.
Mduduzi Mtsetfwa, who spoke after the pastor, said he was short of words on the matter. He said Ndaba was a gentleman and was committed to the church.
He said he lived in Mbabane, but attended church every Sunday, and if he could not make it, he always reported. “I always took note of everything he said during meetings, as he always spoke with a soft voice,’ he said.

He said Ndaba sensitised them on their obligation to pay their dues to the church. He said during the retreat, he had to be last speaker, but Ndaba asked to speak after him. He said Ndaba gave a long speech related to the men’s fellowship.
“We now understand why,” said.

Trevor Shongwe was the next speaker and he said Ndaba used his financial acumen to empower the congregation. He implored his wife to continue adding value to the congregation.
The Mc also said Ndaba had a bubbly personality and was called a Form 11 as he always disrupted meetings.

The SMVAF was represented by The Chief Financial Officer Martin Simelane, who said God was in control and He was the rightful person for revenge.
He said as SMVAF employees, they were touched and they did not believe that they would not see him walking into his locked office again.

“It is painful that I am here to speak at Sifiso Ndaba’s memorial service. There is nothing that we can do now, except mourn together,” he said.
He also said Ndaba worked closely with the company’s Board of Directors.

Sikhumbuzo Nene, who spoke on behalf of friends, said he met Ndaba in 2003 while they were serving articles at Kobla Quashie. He said they became friends since then. He said Ndaba was the master of ceremonies during his surprise 40th birthday party, and that was his way of bidding them goodbye.
He shared that Ndaba loved cars, and they once drove to Pretoria just to see a Chrysler.

He stated that Ndaba loved laughing, giving advice and the truth. “As one of us in our KQ page said, his death was painful, disgusting and barbaric,” he said.
Ndaba’s aunt brought laughter to the sombre mood of the memorial service when sharing Ndaba’s memories.

called him pastor

She said they called him ‘pastor’ from a very young age as he was different and God-fearing. She shared that Ndaba hosted a birthday party for his wife at Gigi’s Restaurant, and he was organising another one for December 25.
Ndaba’s aunt spoke fondly of Ndaba’s love for his wife. She said Ndaba followed the Bible’s teachings which stated that men should love their wives. She said she was sad that there would no longer be that kind of life.

She shared that Ndaba carried his wife after she had an operation as they attended a family gathering. She said Cebsile, Ndaba’s wife asked that he put her down, and she would try using crutches.
She also thanked SMVAF for taking good care of the family in their time of need. Lindo Dube was the last speaker during the memorial service and he gave a special tribute from Ndaba’s wife.

“Cebsile said it was like Ndaba knew that his time would soon be up as he wanted to spend every free minute he had with her.
“It really breaks my heart that I could not be there for you in your worst,” she said. She described her deceased husband as her mother, father and best friend. She said he made her feel like a queen and said she knew she was safe from the suffering he went through.

After the memorial service, the family fetched Ndaba’s corpse from Dups Funeral Home, before proceeding to Sivule where he will be buried this morning.
