MBABANE – Are radio personalities attracted to married women? Barely a week after the Times SUNDAY reported that a well-known radio broadcaster has been reported to his royal kraal for adultery, information has emerged that another famous radioman was caught red-handed having sex with a married woman.

He was caught in the act by the woman’s husband.
This is reported to have happened at the woman’s homestead on the day of her lobola in December 2017 in Ezulwini.
The radio personality was reportedly the most important person in the husband’s entourage as he was ‘umyeni’ (bridegroom) during the lobola ceremony.

radioman’s underwear

The husband now has in his possession the radioman’s underwear, sandals and traditional attire that includes emajobo (loincloth) and tidvwashi (cloth ‘skirts’), which he left behind when he fled after being caught having sex with the married woman.

Relating what happened, the husband said he asked the radioman to be his umyeni because the person he had initially requested later found out he would be held up at work on the day.
“Because the radioman is my neighbour, I then asked him to stand in as the umyeni and he gladly accepted my request. He then accompanied me to my in-laws to pay the lobola, which was in the form of E15 000 cash,” the husband related.

He said everything went according to plan and, as is the norm with such ceremonies, there was plenty alcohol available.
“I got drunk at around 4pm and decided to take a nap in the living room. I did not go to the bedroom because I felt it was too hot there. At around 8pm I woke up and headed for the bedroom as the heat had cooled off. But when I opened the door, I was met by an unforgettable image; the radioman was on top of my wife and they were having sex,” the husband said.
He said when the radioman realised that they had been caught, he rushed for the door where he knocked him over and ran outside.

Wife apologises

“He was naked. He left his clothes behind because there was no time to get dressed. I asked my wife what was going on and she first refused to admit that they were having sex but later apologised for what had happened,” stated the husband.
He said when his wife initially denied having sex with the radioman, he told her that he was not blind but had seen what had happened even though he was not entirely sober.

In the meantime, the radioman is said to have disappeared into the night but later emerged at around 10pm and asked that he at least be given his clothes.
“I refused and told my in-laws that the clothes were to be used as exhibits to prove that I had caught him having sex with my wife,” he said.

The husband said he did not understand how the radioman and his wife managed to sneak into the bedroom in the presence of his in-laws.
“Maybe this thing was planned, who knows?” he said.

He said he then called the police to ask for assistance in dealing with the situation but the men in blue were reportedly of little help.
“The police said there was nothing they could do. I asked him if they were saying I should handle this my own way but they had no answers,” he said.

Cops mediate in matter

The husband said days went by after the incident and he tried to contact the radioman so they could talk about what happened but he allegedly ignored his phone calls.
Seeing that he was not making any headway with the radioman, the husband said he then contacted another well-known radio personality, Veli ‘VV’ Simelane, to try and mediate.

“Veli managed to bring the radioman to the police station in Mbabane where we met to talk about the issue. Also present was Phindile Vilakati (now Chief Police Information and Communications Officer). I explained to them what had happened but the radioman denied everything. I told them that I had exhibits as proof but he still maintained his innocence,” said the husband.

He said that was the last time he spoke to the radioman and had only come across him once around the capital city where the latter pretended not to have seen him.
“All I want is for him to admit what he did and then we both agree on how to deal with the situation. This man has a wife but I have all along ignored going to her with what her husband did. I haven’t done this because I don’t want to stir trouble between them, otherwise I could have long gone to her,” he said.

‘I can’t forget scene’

He said even though he had forgiven his wife, it was, however, difficult to forget what happened and what he saw sometimes played itself in his mind.
“Sometimes when I look at my wife, I see flashes of the incident. Things between us have not been the same ever since that day,” he stated.
Simelane (‘VV’) confirmed knowledge of the matter when called in Thursday but asked to be called later to talk about it.

However, when contacted as per his request, he did not answer his mobile phone.
This publication later learnt that he had called the aggrieved husband to find out why he had spoken to this newspaper about the matter.
Text and WhatsApp messages were sent to Simelane but he did not respond to either. This is despite blue ticks on the WhatsApp message indicating that he had read it.

On the other hand, the implicated broadcaster also did not answer his mobile phone each time he was called since Wednesday.
He also did not respond to a text message that was sent to him.

Vilakati, the police Chief PICO, said he did not recall how the matter was handled but looking at its nature, it was possible that the concerned parties were directed to their respective royal kraal (umphakatsi).
“Such matters are handled at umphakatsi level but I don’t know if these people were assisted when they went to report the matter there,” she said.
