MBABANE – Recruitment in the armed forces might be on a ‘freeze’ for now, but is still hot on some people’s lips.

Armed forces last recruited in 2017 and it is yet to be heard when the next recruitment will be. One of the aspiring regional women Members of Parliament (MPs) Flora Gwebu from Ntfonjeni Inkhundla, said there was a need to have a law regulating the hiring process within the armed forces.

Gwebu said there was a need for a law that would stipulate the necessary percentage required for armed forces so that the figures could decrease. She said this resulted in stations having a large human resource which then caused the wage bill to be bulgy.

Gwebu also spoke on behalf of teachers during her bid to win the MPs’ hearts. She said contracts had to be eliminated in the teaching practice.

discouraged

She said employing teachers through contracts discouraged them and led to a high failure rate. She opined that contract teachers did not give it their all while government spent a lot of money on them.

“We need a law that will ensure that there are no dropouts in schools because it is a waste of government resources,” Gwebu said. She said the country was faced with economic challenges and she had solutions which she would appreciate parliamentarians to implement with her. She said the solutions included the use of solar system for power generation and made an example of the Nazarene Church which had started doing same.

plead

“I plead with you in the name of Jesus that you vote for me this year,” Gwebu said.
She stated that she would work hand-in-hand with the Ntfonjeni MP in developing their constituency. She further said she was well-versed about projects that needed their attention in their constituency, which she listed as electrification and water. She said she was the missing piece of the puzzle and would complement efforts made by her MP.
