MBABANE – Employees of a reputable government parastatal are still reeling from shock after they witnessed a businessman assaulting their chief executive officer.

The names of the businessman and the CEO are known to this publication but will not be revealed as the matter has not been heard in court yet.
The jaw-dropping incident reportedly happened on Monday at the parastatal’s premises, where the businessman, who is in the construction industry, reportedly physically assaulted the CEO with open hands and fists. The violent incident happened in the afternoon, in full view of the entity’s employees.

According to sources, the incident, which left them dumb founded, happened after the government entity allegedly failed to pay the businessman for work his company had done. The sources alleged that the businessman had been informed that the parastatal would not pay him anytime soon and this did not sit well with him.

Allegations are to the effect that certain employees of the parastatal were heard saying the businessman would not be paid. The message reportedly came across as though the decision not to pay the supplier was deliberate and meant to frustrate the businessman. This then prompted some people to inform the construction company boss about the matter.

The livid businessman reportedly went to the public entity’s offices to enquire about his payment.
When he got there, he did not find the CEO and was ushered in to wait for him at the parastatal’s boardroom.

When the CEO eventually came through, he was informed about the businessman’s, and the intention of his visit.
The CEO is said to have proceeded to the boardroom to address the businessman’s presence  and that is when tempers flared.
Apparently the businessman did not take kindly to responses he received from the CEO, which resulted in him allegedly assaulting the head of the parastatal with open hands several times.
