MBABANE – Is stabbing a woman 17 times in front of her mother a way to show your love for her?

Thandeka Masuku (21) survived to tell the tale of her being stabbed several times all over the body, allegedly by her taximan boyfriend.
The incident happened on Saturday morning at Mnyamatsini where Thandeka was staying with her boyfriend of about to two years.

Thandeka is currently admitted to hospital and she cannot talk properly as she has pipes attached to her body draining blood due to internal bleeding.
Dudu Masuku, Thandeka’s mother, explained that her daughter and boyfriend had not argued but he had asked what her moving out of their rented flat meant about their relationship, to which Thandeka had said it meant nothing.

However, in an interview in her hospital bed, Thandeka said she moved out because her boyfriend was allegedly abusive to her.
Also, she claimed her parents had pleaded with her to move out.

Clothing

According to Dudu, she had accompanied her daughter to get her clothing from the boyfriend’s house, as they did not have a car to collect the other household items. Dudu explained that they arrived in the morning so they could find him in the house as Thandeka did not have her own keys to the house.
When they arrived, the boyfriend opened the door without showing any problem.

Dudu said she then explained to him that they had come to get her daughter’s clothes, since she would be moving in with her.
“Her father and I had been telling Thandeka that we do not accept her staying with a man who had not married her. Since Thandeka had also told us several times that he (allegedly) abused her, we emphasised that she moved out,” Dudu explained.

The mother said her daughter packed her clothes on the Saturday morning and when they left, the boyfriend followed them. He would sometimes call Thandeka and they would stop to talk.
