3 MINOR RAPE SURVIVORS RELIVE HORRIFIC EXPERIENCES IN COURT

MANZINI- The court was almost sent into tears when three children relived horrid rape experiences.

The three are part of five young girls, all below the age of 13 who were allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man.
The suspect is alleged to have first made the young girls to either watch porn or nude pictures prior to the ordeal.

The accused person faces another charge of allegedly sodomising a minor boy, after he had forced him and the others to view nude pictures on his cellphone.
Mhlonipheni Innocent Zwane of Mdonjane was arrested and charged with six offences, five of rape and another of indecent assault, which he allegedly committed between the years 2015 and 2017.

Some of the children are related to each other and come from the same homestead.
They are said to be also related to the suspect and would occasionally visit his home.

The suspect is alleged to have taken advantage of the children from the neighbouring homesteads, while playing in the yard.
All the incidents are alleged to have happened at the suspect’s homestead situated at Emafini, near Malkerns.

Zwane appeared before Principal Magistrate David Khumalo for trial on Saturday.

One of the survivors, aged 10 told the court that the suspect allegedly raped her while she visited her aunt’s place. She said the accused person had forced her to view nude pictures on his cellphone.
She alleged that while crying, she would beg the accused to stop, however he ignored her.

“After raping me without protection, he ordered another girl to get into the bed and he did the same thing he had done to me, while I watched.
“When he finished raping us, he ordered us to go outside so we could play with other children.
“I was scared to report the incident when I returned home.

“However, I eventually did after my mother had persuaded me,” the girl alleged.
She also revealed that her mother took her to Malkerns police station where statements were recorded before she was taken to hospital for medical examination.

Another rape survivor, aged nine told the court that she had been playing outside the accused person’s home when he allegedly called her into one of the houses and suggested that they watch porn from a TV set.
She alleged that while watching TV, the accused removed her clothes, forced her to face up and raped her in the process.
The girl alleged that after raping her, he threatened to assault her if she reported the incident to anyone.

“He told me that even if I reported him to the elders, they would not believe me but him.
“A while later, one of my elder sisters enquired about the incident and asked what the accused had done to me.
“I told my sister everything about the incident and that the accused had not raped me once, but several times while watching cartoons,” the girl alleged.

She further alleged that she was once raped by the accused person after her mother had sent her to collect dishes, where he stayed.
The girl alleged that the accused grabbed and placed her on the bed, where he raped her and further threatened to severely assault her if she reported the incident.
