MANZINI – A launch of a first-of-its-kind E24 million National Contact Centre, positions the country among the best in the world.

Prime Minister (PM) Sibusiso Dlamini, unveiled a Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) National Contact Centre at Mavuso Sports and Exhibition Centre yesterday. The E24 million project is located at the Royal Science and Technology Park.
The premier, who was represented by acting Minister of Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs Owen Nxumalo, said the facilities of the contact centre offered no fewer than 204 seats, which are available either for SPTC employees or for renting by the public.

“I take the opportunity to request all parastatals and the private sector to use this facility and not reinvent the wheel, so to speak, by duplicating the service. We have spent E24 million setting it up. We guarantee value for money in the service and we want your loyal business,” said the PM

The PM stressed that it was a service that could be offered at a high level of proficiency to the rest of the world, as well as to emaSwati. “The contact centre is very much part of the increased sophistication in present day economic activity.  From taking hotel and travel bookings, to telesales, to product promotion and information across a huge spectrum, the contact centre is very much a modern phenomenon. We have seen hubs created in countries like Malta and Mauritius.  Now is the time for Eswatini,” he stressed.

SPTC Managing Director Petros Dlamini, on the other hand, highlighted that the project was one of His Majesty’s government’s initiatives to take the Kingdom of Eswatini to Vision 2022. “The facility will enable the country to be investor friendly, create jobs for young people as well as diversify and increase revenue base for SPTC,” said Dlamini.

Successful pilots are said to have been done with SwaziBank, SPTC and the First National Bank.
“Currently, we have EBC on board fully operational, as they have a toll-free line that is accessible to the public. We have partners with world class leaders in contact centres, including Mauritius telecom, a leader in the region,” said Dlamini.
