MBABANE – The evidence of the maid who was assaulted by Sithembiso Mabuza has left the court with the impression that the offence was premeditated.

Mabuza is the Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) employee who assaulted his maid at Mahwalala after he accused her of stealing his clothes and further abandoning his child.

As a result, Senior Magistrate Nonhlanhla Dlamini yesterday dismissed Mabuza’s defence and found him guilty of the offence.
Dlamini said the manner in which Hlatjwako was assaulted showed that there was proper planning prior to the commission of the offence.

She said the court had noted Hlatjwako’s evidence when she narrated how Mabuza called her to his house prior to the commission of the offence.

In her evidence, Hlatjwako told the court that Mabuza called her under the pretext that he would give her money. She told the court that she was in a company of her sister when she went to Mabuza’s house; however, Mabuza dismissed her companion stating that his maid would take long in the house as she had some business to do.

After her sister had left, Hlatjwako told the court that Mabuza asked his wife, who was also present in the house, to take his minor child before instructing her to proceed to the bedroom.
