MANZINI – As the local national elections draw near, some people are allegedly committing serious offences, robbing people and threatening to kill them and use their body parts for rituals.

A suspect, Mfanufikile Bongeka Manyatsi (28) of Mathangeni, Matsapha, allegedly kidnapped a woman, dragged her to a forest at knife-point and further threatened to kill her. The accused also told the woman, Thuli Mdluli, that he would remove her private parts and take them to a traditional healer. “If I cannot get the money, I will kill you, remove your private parts and further take them to a traditional healer to make muti for the upcoming elections,” the accused allegedly threatened. The incident occurred while the complainant was walking home from her place of employment, at Helemisi, where she is employed as a domestic worker. She told the court that while walking at Mhlaleni, near the late businessman, Boy Motsa’s car wash at about 4pm, a stranger emerged from nowhere and assaulted her with open hands.

“While assaulting me, he demanded money. I fell down and he drew a knife and further took my handbag. He then ordered me to open the bag and give him my purse. he told me he wanted an amount of E5 000. “I opened the bag and told him I only had E21.80. he took the money and further dragged me to the nearest bushes and sat me down. He asked me where I was employed and I told him I worked for a businesswoman as a domestic worker,” the complainant said. Mdluli added that the suspect allegedly asked where her boss was employed and when she told him that she was a businesswoman, he allegedly ordered that she be called so she could pay a ransom fee of E5 000, otherwise she would stab her to death. The complainant was further allegedly dragged to the mountains by the livid Manyatsi, where upon arrival, he ordered her to call her boss and demand the money.

“I called my boss and informed her that I had been held captive by a man who was demanding E5 000 otherwise I would get killed and my body parts taken to a traditional healer to make muti for the elections. “While I was speaking to my boss, the suspect grabbed the phone and ordered her to pay the money otherwise he would kill me. “My boss asked him where he was and how they could meet, however, she told him she did not have the amount of money he was demanding,” Mdluli told the court yesterday. The complainant also told the court that the suspect insisted that her boss should meet him soon, otherwise he would kill her. Three hours later, at about 7pm, the complainant’s boss, Elsa Holzel, called and asked where she could meet the suspect. “He suggested that they should meet at the nearest Puma Filling Station in 15 minutes and dragged me down the mountains. Along the way to meet up with my boss, he was severely assaulting and insulting me.
