MBABANE – Sickly murder suspect Lucky ‘Obama’ Matsenjwa has come out to allege that His Majesty’s Correctional Services has declined him access to a proper mattress while in jail.

According to the court papers filed at the High Court yesterday, doctors made recommendations that he be provided with not only a proper mattress but also a lumber corset which the Correctional Services has allegedly declined him access to citing security reasons.

Matsenjwa’s attorneys argued that on June 26, 2017, their client was diagnosed with peptic ulcers and required a special diet which the Correctional Services could not provide and was currently provided by his family.
“It is evident that the conditions at the Remand Centre are not conducive for a person in the applicant’s state of health and this is not denied by the Crown. The Crown has simply made baseless allegations that the applicant is faking his illness without any medical opinion to support such an assertion,” read part of the court papers..

... appeals for bail

MBABANE – In his appeal of the High Court decision to deny him bail early this year, ‘Obama’ who is charged with the murder of a keywitness in the fingerprints case, Mduduzi ‘Schaza’  Matsebula, submitted that he might die in prison.

He said his medical condition was worsening.
The suspect claimed that his doctors, in the presence of Correctional Services officers, advised that he urgently needed to undergo an operation in respect of his injury.
According to Matsenjwa, he required to be granted bail in order to sort out his health issue and the Correctional Centre advised him that it lacked such facilities and as such could not come to his assistance.
