MBABANE – The PM’s Head of Security, Assistant Commissioner Paul Zishwili, has been put on special leave.

The leave, according to the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer (PICO) Superintendent Khulani Mamba is for a period of two months.

There have been several rumours on why the PM, Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini’s longest serving bodyguard Zishwili, has been removed from the premiers security detail, but the police are sticking to the version that the senior police officer is not feeling well.
“He even sought medical help from a South African hospital sometime back,” said Mamba.

When asked if there had been no misunderstanding between the personal protections officer (Zishwili) and the PM, he said nothing had been brought to their attention.

Mamba said the National Commissioner of Police, Isaac Magagula, had also been contacted on the issue.
Mamba, when asked what would happen after the two-month period of special leave, said they would cross that bridge when they got to it.
In Cabinet, no one wanted to comment on the issue of why Zishwili had been placed on special leave.
Government Spokesperson Percy Simelane cited that he was on leave and referred all questions to his deputy, Sabelo Dlamini.
Dlamini in turn said, “Issues of security are only dealt with by police, please refer your question to them.”

Zishwili has over the years become the PM’s ‘right-hand man’ as he has literally been behind the premier’s back at every function, be it personal or work related assignments.
