LOBAMBA – The three Golf 7 GTIs bought for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have resurfaced.

This is if Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Edgar Hillary’s words are anything to go by. Hillary made this confirmation yesterday during an interview in Parliament.

The minister said the cars were being used by the ACC and were driven around by officers of the government parastatal. He said he was ready to show this reporter where the cars were and asked that his word be enough to attest to that.
“Trust me, I would not lie to you, the cars are here, they are working,” Hillary said as he walked away.

The Times SUNDAY reported that the ministry had purchased three Golf 7 GTI hashback vehicles for the ACC at E1.26 million and that the cars had gone missing. When the minister was questioned about the missing vehicles last week, he asked to respond yesterday. During an interview yesterday, he was quick to state that the cars were in the country, working.

It could not be ascertained why the minister could not give the same response last week or where the cars were until he could give a straight answer to the question. The ACC Director, Jabu Phakathi could not be reached for comment as her mobile phone rang unanswered.
