BHOVA IS LEAVING - MP

LOBAMBA – It’s definitely war. This is the ongoing fued between the Prime Minister, Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini and Nkwene Member of Parliament (MP) Sikhumbuzo Dlamini.

Although not mentioning names, the MP clearly stated that editors and journalists from both Swazi TV and Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Services (SBIS) would be in trouble because their ‘bulldog’ was also leaving office.

In vernacular he said, “Uyahamba naye lobhova wabo.” This was during the annual budget performance debate of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Techonology by the Portfolio Committee, which is chaired by Mangcongco MP Patrick Motsa.
Directing his questions to minister Dumsani Ndlangamandla,  the Nkwene MP asked if both the national broadcasters had editors and if the latter were tools for certain individuals to badmouth them (MPs).

He said he was shocked when he turned on the radio one day, only to find that he was the topic of discussion in the news. “Alibuyi ephalamende lilunga lase Nkwene, alinanhlonipho,” said MP Sikhumbuzo as he quoted what had been stated by the PM at a certain police function.

This can be loosely translated to mean that the people should not vote MP Sikhumbuzo back into Parliament because he was disrespectful. The MP said instead of the people from Cabinet eating the meat they had been invited to feast on the function, they decided to make him a topic for the news.

He said he once heard the PM inform the officers in the judiciary that ‘utohamba lobhova wenu’ (your bulldog will go).
This was during the time when the Chief Justice was Michael Ramodibedi, who was later fired.  The MP said he had the same message for the editors and journalists that they would be left out in the cold once their handler left office.

He wondered if it was editorially correct to allow an individual to destroy politicians by using the media. “Fortunately, I was not elected in Mbabane nor through the radio and this person may not achieve whatever his agenda is against me,” said the MP.
