SEC TRUCK DRIVER IN FATAL CRASH FACES EIGHT COUNTS

MBABANE – The Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) employee whose truck collided with a kombi, an accident that killed seven people, has been charged with seven counts of culpable homicide.


The accident occurred at White City along the Mnyokane/Motshane Road on Friday.
All the deceased were on board the kombi. Mbuso Zwane (52) of Dwaleni made an appearance before Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati on Saturday where he was granted bail fixed at E3 000.


In the charge sheet, Zwane is facing eight counts of traffic offences and he informed the court he would be conducting his own defence when trial commences.
His trial date for the accident which happened on the MR1 Public Road has been set for March 30, 2018 by the court.
The first count is that of culpable homicide where Zwane was driving a BM Man truck which collided with a Toyota Siyaya kombi driven by Bhekumusa Zwane (29) of Nkhaba, who died from the accident.


His second count is that of culpable homicide for the death of Paul Matsebula (71) of Nkhaba.
The third count is culpable homicide where Winile Mkhontfo of Mahebedla was also killed.


His fourth count is that of culpable homicide where Sifiso Mkhontfo (33) passed away as he was on board the kombi.
Count five is that of culpable homicide where an unknown female was also killed.


Count six is also of culpable homicide following the death of Nomsa Hlatshwako who was also on board the same kombi.
Count seven is another charge of culpable homicide where Xoliswa Shawe (20) of Dlangeni was killed.
