MBABANE – Bodies were sprawled over the tarmac on the Mnyokane – Motshane Road as six people died in a horrible accident.

The six passengers were on board a kombi that was travelling between Motshane and Mnyokane, headed for the Pigg’s Peak direction.
The police and eyewitnesses said the kombi collided with a truck belonging to the Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC), which was driving in the opposite direction.

Acting Chief Police Information and Communication Officer Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, confirmed that two women and four men including the kombi driver died on the spot around Mnyokane.
She said the cause of the accident was still being investigated by the police but preliminary results indicate that a driver of one of the two vehicles lost control, resulting in the collision.

“At the moment we are trying to locate the deceased’s relatives and we are requesting people who may have had relatives travelling in that route around the time of the accident to check with the police,” she said.
Vilakati could not confirm the number of passengers who were on board the kombi but she stated that three other passengers were admitted to the Mbabane Government hospital in a critical condition.

She also could not recall if the area that has seen many accidents was at any stage declared a high-accident zone.
SEC Corporate and Marketing Manager Sifiso Dhlamini, said the company’s personnel and management were devastated by the loss of life. He extended his condolences to the members of the deceased on behalf of the company.
