MBABANE – The arrested businessman’s son was allegedly found in possession of E60 000 South African notes while at the Ngwenya Border Gate.

Mbusi Shongwe (24) of Ngculwini is a son to Sipho Shongwe who has been charged with the murder of Victor Gamedze.
Both father and son were arrested on Friday at the border gate. Mbusi was nabbed while driving a Polo Vivo with registration plates HNK 584 MP and he allegedly failed to declare the fact that he was carrying the money in cash.

He was remanded in the company of his father at the Mbabane Police Station yesterday during lunchtime.
Present at the remand were a large number of family members who were also allowed into the conference room.
Mbusi is represented by Sipho Mnisi who was also present during his remand where the accused was granted bail fixed at E3 500.

Remand

Magistrate Lenhle Zulu heard the remand hearing with Buddy Masango for the Crown and Chakazile Tsabedze was the interpreter.
Mnisi informed the court that Mbusi was still under parental guidance and he had a strong defence to the charges he was faced with. Mbusi was charged with the offence of contravening Section 41 (1) as read with Section 41 (2) of the Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (prevention) Act 2011 as amended.

The charge reads that at about January 19, 2018 and at or near Ngwenya Border Gate in the Hhohho district, the said accused person did wrongfully and unlawfully upon entry into the country, failed to declare to customs officers and to the police that he had money amounting to E60 000 in South African currency in his possession inside the motor vehicle.
