MBABANE – It is the breakthrough everyone has been waiting for?

Five days after businessman Victor Gamedze was heartlessly assassinated at Galp Filling Station in Ezulwini, the police have taken in one of the football club administrators for questioning in relation to the murder.

The soccer administrator, who is the first person that the police have confirmed having taken in regarding the coldblooded murder, was nabbed at the Ngwenya Border Post on Friday night.

The Times SUNDAY has been informed that the administrator, who is also a businessman, was trying to cross the border to South Africa in the company of his son when members of the high profile 10-man police task team that is investigating Gamedze’s death pounced.

Police, through their intelligence department, reportedly gathered that the soccer administrator intended leaving the country hence they kept watch on him. The businessman, according to the police, is currently being kept at Mbabane Police Station but has not been charged.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the fact that the soccer team boss was in police custody.

He was, however, careful with what to say as he emphasised that the administrator had not been arrested for Gamedze’s murder but was helping the police in relation to the businessman’s assassination.

“Yes it is true; the football administrator was taken in by police on Friday night at the Ngwenya border Gate and he is helping police with the investigation.
