Mbabane – It is a miracle! This is the only way to describe a chilling accident where two children aged two and one were run over by a family car ‘driven’ by their helper while sitting under the shade within the yard. The incident happened around Ezulwini.

The two miraculously survived after their family helper, who does not have a licence jumped onto the driver’s seat of their grandmother’s car, VW Polo and put it on ignition mode.
While the minor’s grandmother claims it was an accident, their father is not convinced.

*Sifiso, the father of the children, is adamant that it was not an accident but a deliberate move to hurt his children following the grudges the helper has with the children’s mother. Sifiso alleged that everything was carefully planned by the grandmother of the two children and the helper who had a grudge with the children’s mother. Sifiso alleged that the children were deliberately abandoned in order to fulfil their task. “On the same day our helper abandoned the children, they were ran over by the car that reversed on them while sitting under a tree with their 13-year-old sister,” alleged Sifiso.  He said there were unclear explanations regarding the helper jumping onto the driver’s seat.

Sifiso said the helper had no driving experience and he wondered why she decided to get behind the wheel on the same day she was supposed to leave.

He said there was no way that she could not have noticed that there were children behind the car as there were other older children at the scene. However, he said due to the ages of his two children, they were unable to escape and were hit by the vehicle.

The incident happened last Monday. Sifiso said according to those who were at the scene, the children’s grandmother did not want police to be involved in the matter and they were called by tenants who witnessed the incident.

“She further moved the car from the accident scene, something which I believe was to cover up evidence and also washed it,” alleged Sifiso.
