MANZINI – Traitors!  This is how the Swaziland Revenue Authority Workers’ Union (SRAWU) described the previously on-strike employees who have returned to work.

The union leadership took turns to address the issue of those employees who have decided to ‘betray the struggle’.
President of the union Tremendous Dlamini said those employees had acted irrationally.  Dlamini reflected on Nelson Mandela’s quote; ‘Fools multiply when wise men are silent.’   “Fools have betrayed us,” Dlamini said. He said the impressive presence of the members reflected on how wise they were. “Wise men should stand up for their rights.”

According to Dlamini, they were not returning to work without receiving the 6.5 per cent cost-of-living adjustment.
Over 387 SRAWU members converged at Shosholoza Preschool yesterday and took a resolution  of going forward with the strike action. First Deputy Secretary General Trevor Mabuza said they were amazed with the attendance and realised the ‘propaganda’ propagated by the company. Mabuza said they were willing to listen to the members as they were under their grace.  Vice President Nhlanhla Lukhele said they should stick to their agenda, which was the decision they had taken when engaging in the strike action.

Lukhele said the traitors who have decided to go back to work would be sorry with the choice they had made.
SRAWU Secretary General Moses Masilela said they would never forget those who have betrayed the struggle and the just cause of the union. Masilela said the previously on-strike employees have been disloyal to the workers’ union.
He said those members would soon face challenges at work and be short of some funds and would come running to the union.
