MBABANE – He is a free man after spending a night in the ‘hotel of law’.

Lobamba Member of Parliament (MPs) Michael Masilela, was yesterday admitted to E50 000 bail by High Court Judge Mumcy Dlamini and was later seen in Parliament during a sitting.

The legislator was, however, ordered to pay E5 000 cash and provide surety for the balance.
In his application for bail, Masilela submitted that he was a law-abiding citizen, who paid allegiance to the authorities and State.
He further mentioned that he had served the State for a considerably long period of time.

Some of his bail conditions we that he should report at the Mbabane Police Station, surrender his travel document or passport, should not interfere with Crown witnesses, should provide the investigator of the case with his residential address in the event he changes his place of abode and that he should avail himself as and when ordered to do so by the court.

The MP had submitted that there were no exceptional circumstances which might suggest that he would disturb public order or undermine public peace or security in the event he was released on bail.

He averred that there were no grounds to justify his refusal to be admitted to bail and continue to be kept in custody.
The legislator argued that the interest of justice favoured that he should be admitted to bail.
