MBABANE – The family of the late business magnate, Dumisa Mbusi Dlamini, has made strides towards bringing his remains to Swaziland to give him a proper funeral.

On Friday, the High Court ordered the Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths to issue a death certificate in respect of Dlamini who died intestate in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa on March 25, 2014.To die intestate means to die without having prepared a will. An application was first made by his sons, Mzwandile and Nhlanhla, before court praying for an order that Dlamini’s death certificate be issued. Dlamini’s elder sister, Anna (72), filed a similar application.

She cited the Master of the High Court and the Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths as respondents in her application.
Anna told the court that she was desirous to have the remains of her brother, who owned properties in the country and in South Africa, mainly farms and hotels, returned to the country for a proper burial and to open an estate file for him in Swaziland because he was a prince.

Dlamini was the son of Prince Mgenule and his grandfather was Prince Velabantfu.
Anna informed the court that in order to be able to do so, she had to be in possession of his death certificate to prove that he died. She submitted that when she approached the office of the Master, she was advised to obtain her brother’s death certificate in order to open his estate file.

Anna said there were further documents which were required by the registrar of BMDs in order to issue her brother’s death certificate. According to Anna, the documents included a letter from the police confirming that their investigation was no longer under way.
