MBABANE – Daring thieves got on a parked bus belonging to tourists and stole items and money worth over E100 000 at gunpoint on Saturday night.

The incident happened at around 9pm while the tourists had left the bus to explore the country.
Information gathered is that the bus had been parked at the Buka junction next to the highway. Inside the bus was the tour guide and driver who were watching television installed in the coach, while the tourists were out exploring the country. At this time, the tourists, who were travelling in the coach had been taken by different Quantums. They were touring various homesteads in the country to acquaint themselves with the Swazi way of life.

It is said that the tourists from overseas countries had hired the tour bus in South Africa after they had landed.
The two men who had been left behind to look after the property which was in the bus, heard a knock on the door and they thought it was some of the tourists who had returned from their excursion. When they opened the door, they found three men and one of them was carrying a gun. He informed them that they were entering the bus and wanted everything that was valuable inside if they did not want to die.

The driver and the tour guide then followed instructions while the suspects took cellphones, jewellery and money in cash which was mostly in Euros. Everything stolen totalled E106 000. Some of the people who have homesteads close to the crime scene said they suspect the robbers had been watching the bus during the day.
