MAYIWANE – The family of the late Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU) student Bafana Magents Shiba still wants answers regarding his death and only then will he rest in peace.

Solomon Shiba, the elder brother to Bafana said family members were still shocked because he was not a violent person. It is alleged Bafana had been inflicted with a lot of pain while being murdered. “We are confused about why this happened,” said Solomon. He said something should be done about Bafana’s death so that the truth could be uncovered. Solomon urged mourners to assist in finding out what really happened. Looking at a projected image of Bafana with the words, ‘Rest in Peace’, Solomon questioned how his brother would rest in peace considering the manner in which he died. “How can he rest in peace?” he asked. Solomon emphasised that his brother would rest in peace once the family had found out why he was murdered in that manner. He said though the Bible said death is inevitable, God did not mean people should die in the way Bafana died.

“We can’t pretend about what the Bible says when we do not have an answer,” said Solomon. He said the law should take its course and find out what really happened. Bafana was murdered and his body was discovered already in a decomposed stated buried in a shallow grave. A man was arrested in connection with the murder that has left Bafana’s friends and family shocked as they described him as an ever smiling person who never provoked anyone.
Yesterday morning, he was laid to rest at Ndlalambi after a vigil that was attended by hundreds of mourners including students from SANU. Magents was a second year student at the university in the Faculty of Education. One of the pastors who introduced himself as Jeffrey told the family to forgive. He said had he been there when Bafana was murdered, he would also be in jail but he had learnt to forgive.
