LOBAMBA - Education and Training Minister Phineas Magagula was yesterday ‘politely’ kicked out of the House of Assembly.

This was after Magagula attempted to deliver a ministerial statement on the issue of the reopening of the Swaziland Christian University (SCU).

Speaker Themba Msibi first told the House that he had advised the minister against making the statement particularly because he had mentioned things to the effect that the students should only come register at the institution next Monday.

Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo said there was no way that they would debate the issue especially because they had already addressed it on Wednesday.

Nkhaba MP Menzi Dlamini said just yesterday, they had hailed the King for his wisdom and wondered what else the minister could add.
Minister of Public Service Owen Nxumalo attempted to ask his colleagues to allow Magagula to address the House, but he too was shot down.
“If any talks should be made they should be on radio or on other media forums, but not in this House,” said Khubuta MP Njabulo Mabuza.

“Akasifake ekhikhini nje lestatement sakhe ahambe naso,” said Mabuza which is loosely translated; the minister should just put the statement in his pocket and leave with it.

He added that maybe the minister could tell them at a later stage about the statement. Manzini North MP Jan Sithole said the statement was inadmissible. “How can he come here and tell us about something of the last?” wondered Sithole.

He said if anything, the minister should have tabled the reports on the progress being made at the institution.
