MAID: MY BOSS FORCED ME TO GO FOR HIV TEST

MBABANE – Yet another domestic worker has made scathing allegations against her employer, that she forced her to undergo an HIV test.

Procedurally, a person takes an HIV test voluntarily, following vigorous counselling sessions, but it was not the case for *Thuli, who failed to wiggle her way out of the hospital facility when her employer allegedly coerced her to test for HIV.

This was after the female employer allegedly found *Thuli breastfeeding her (employer’s) baby who was two months old at the time.
*Thuli alleges that she was made to undergo the HIV test under duress. The name of the employer will not be revealed as she has not been charged as yet.

Her further particulars, including name, will be disclosed once the matter goes to court.
Narrating the events leading to the HIV test, *Thuli said her boss, an employee of one of the banking institutions, approached her on September 22, accusing her of breastfeeding the baby.

“She called me into her bedroom and told me about the breastfeeding claims. She said there was a problem and we needed to go and see her doctor,” she alleged.

According to *Thuli, she questioned her boss where she had got the information that she had been breastfeeding the baby from, further explaining to her that such never happened.

However, *Thuli alleged that her employer forced her to take all her belongings and told her that they would be starting at her doctor’s private clinic in Manzini.

“I duly complied and took all my belongings and we boarded a taxi to the clinic,” she alleged.
She said what traumatised her the most was when her employer had a private chat with the doctor before she was ushered in.
“At that moment, I was crying because I was confused of what was happening and was hurt by what my employer had falsely accused me of. I was still clueless that I was actually at the health facility to undergo an HIV test,” she alleged.
