MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III is saddened by lack of tolerance and perseverance which has affected the quality of education at UNISWA.

Making his remarks, the King said the absence of tolerance was affecting the quality of knowledge and skills which students are expected to acquire in the time allocated to successfully complete their certificates, diplomas and degrees.
He encouraged all parties (students and staff) involved to have a united mind and purpose in ensuring high quality education.
“This will improve the employability of graduates as well as enhance their technical and managerial abilities in the workplace,” he said.

He urged all parties to inculcate a culture of teamwork that is characterised by conscious dialogue for peaceful, mutual and speedy outcomes when addressing any challenges that threaten the desired progress for all. “The students, lecturers, administration, government and sponsors of the university need to ensure that an enabling learning environment prevails, His Majesty pleaded.

This year alone, the University of Swaziland has been riddled with cases of violence as rioting students turned to vandalising university property to get their point across.  A case in point is the protest which took place at the Luyengo Campus of the University of Swaziland (UNISWA) where students could not take it anymore and overturned their lecturers vehicle.
A few months later, a police sedan was also overturned as students upended the sedan when demanding to have their allowances paid by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
