MBABANE – While still trying to come to terms with the murder of their two accomplices allegedly at the hands of the police and game rangers, the other suspected poachers have been charged with the pair’s murder.

The failed rhino poaching was thwarted by the police and game rangers who allegedly opened fire and killed a South African man and a Mozambican national inside Hlane Royal Big Game Park on August 11, 2017.

Lucky Mandlati Shabangu and Castigo Jaine Zucula were shot dead while Sipho Mhlanga of Nkamanzi survived the hail of bullets.
It was reported that another vehicle, which the police believed to be a getaway car, was parked a distance away from the game park and its occupants have since been charged with the murder of the two.

These are South African Police Service Reservist in Mpumalanga and fellow South African citizen Isaac Mkhabela (44) of Nelspruit, and Stanley Nhlakalufu (45) of Hazy View and Muzi Dlamini (24) of Ndlalambi under Chief Magudvulela.

They have been charged along with Mhlanga who was driving the vehicle also occupied by the two who were killed. They are represented by Machawe Sithole of Sithole and Magagula Attorneys.
Initially, the suspects were charged with five counts which included contravening the Game Act and Arms and Ammunition Act.

The Crown has amended the charge sheet and in total, the suspects now face 14 charges. These include two counts of murder for the death of Zucula and Shabangu. They have also been charged with attempted murder in that on the same day they allegedly attempted to kill James Jubela Reilly or anyone in the patrolling team.
