RECALL PROMISE MSIBI FROM ETHIOPIA – MP

LOBAMBA – Perhaps it is time that Swazi Ambassador to Ethiopia Promise Msibi is recalled.

This was a suggestion made by Nkwene MP Sikhumbuzo Dlamini during a special sitting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday, where it transpired that Msibi had fed members of the committee who had gone on a fact-finding mission on the E14million intended for the purchase of State houses, white lies.

This was after the delegation, which was led by the Deputy Chairperson, Matsanjeni North MP Phila Buthelezi, gave a report that was a huge contrast when compared to that given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation acting Principal Secretary (PS) Sibusiso Pitso Msibi.

The most glaring contradiction was that the MPs’ delegation, which also included Nkhaba MP Menzi Dlamini and Manzini North MP Jan Sithole, was that they were told by Msibi that the embassy had no idea that the E14 million which was transferred to it was meant for the purchase of houses or their construction, which was why they had utilised it.

However, it transpired that there had been communication in January 2016 from the ministry, where the embassy had been asked to provide quotations for the property they wanted to purchase as renting houses in Ethiopia was expensive.

It turned out that Msibi had responded in March last year, with about eight quotations for the houses they wanted to purchase, which was done five days before the money was transferred.

“I am disappointed by the Ambassador’s behaviour and he is very irresponsible,” said MP Sikhumbuzo.
He said by lying to the MPs, Msibi was showing his true colours on what kind of person he was and that he was playing games out there in the foreign service.
