MBABANE - Senior police officer Clement Sihlongonyane alleges that his brother Philip is the one who petrol-bombed his house in Manzini.

This comes after one of his (Clement) houses situated at Fairview, near Mthunyelelwa was last week Monday petrol-bombed.
At the time the incident was reported, the people behind the arson were said to be unknown but the senior cop was quoted to have said he knew the perpetrators.

The incident left about E180 000 damages on the two-bedroom house, which comprised of a kitchen, sitting room and bathroom. On Friday, Sihlongonyane successfully moved an urgent application in the High Court, interdicting Philip and/or all those acting on his behest from coming near 200m of the house. In his application, the head of Crime Department in the Manzini Region, alleged that his brother was aggrieved that he was no longer getting rentals and that he would ultimately not get the house in due course.

“As a result he had hatched a plan to burn down the whole house so that when the estate is wind up this year, I do not get the house,” he alleged. Sihlongonyane further pointed out that his brother was well known for being a violent individual together with other beneficiaries of his father’s estate.

“It is well-known that they have previously attacked me on a number of occasions. I have managed by the Grace of God to run away to safety,” submitted the ace detective.

He narrated that in the evening of July 18, 2017 he received a call from his brother’s tenants that he (brother) had burnt the house occupied by some of them with a petrol bomb. According to Sihlongonyane, he rushed there in the company of the police and found that part of the house had been burnt considerably and the tenants’ items were destroyed.
