MBABANE – True to its word, the ACC has suspended its alleged mole in Patrick Mooi Dlamini, who is a senior investigator.

ACC is the Anti-Corruption Commission. A few months ago the ACC announced that it was conducting some investigations following the leaking of a letter purported to have been signed by four of its investigators. In the letter, among other things, it was alleged that some investigators made a public spectacle of high profile people they arrested by inviting the media to cover the arrest.

Dlamini is said to have been leaking and disclosing confidential information. He is also accused of bringing the name of the organisation into disrepute. His suspension, which is with full pay, was communicated to him through a memorandum, which was signed by ACC boss Advocate Thanda Mngwengwe.

The senior investigator is also alleged to have among other things, unlawfully disclosed information to Lilian Zwane, who was not a member of the team that was investigating erstwhile Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Sibusiso Shongwe. Zwane is a former deputy commissioner of the ACC.

Besides the charge of leaking information, Dlamini is also facing a litany of charges, which include disclosing confidential information to a third party during investigations. “Unauthorised disclosure of confidential information obtained in the nature of the commission’s business in that at or near Mahlanya, at the former minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs residence, on or about August 19, 2015, you unlawfully disclosed to one Lillian Zwane, who was not a member of the team assigned to the operation, the confidential fact of the planned arrest of the former minister,” reads one of the charges.
