MBABANE – His desire to be released on bail has once again hit a snag as the crown claimed to have new evidence against kidnapping suspect Qing Ming He.

The new evidence is in relation to the allegations by the Crown that Ming was a flight risk which has been strongly objected by his defence counsel, Advocate Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila.

Macebo Nxumalo, who is representing the Crown in the matter, applied to file a further affidavit to lead evidence of two witnesses, who will tell the court that Ming allegedly left the country through illegal means a day before the kidnapping of the prominent Matsapha businessman Almor Oliveira.

The application was made before Judge Mbutfo Mamba who is presiding over the matter at the high Court yesterday.
Nxumalo further submitted that Adam Patrick Joaquin and Weng Ming-Fa would be paraded to give evidence that Ming left the country through Sandlane, a day before the kidnapping of Oliveira.

In response Advocate Mabila, who is representing Ming in the matter, viewed the Crown’s submissions as a delaying tactic.
Mabila said there was a lot of material that was published in the media in relation to the investigations of Oliveira’s disappearance. He said the police went to an extent of inviting any person with information that might lead to the recovery of Oliveira to come forth and claim a reward.

“Where were those witnesses all this time because the police have been calling upon any person with information in relation to this matter to come forth? They even put up E150 000 aside to reward the informants. This is a strategy to delay the case,” Mabila said.
He, however, agreed to the Crown’s application on condition that the affidavit was filed earlier so that they may peruse it on time.
