MBABANE – Its good news for RSSC workers as they will receive 8.5 per cent cost of living increment.
RSSC is the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation.

The company and the Swaziland Agricultural Manufacturing and Allied Staff Association (SAMASA), Simunye and Mhlume branches, agreed that for the purposes of the 2017/18 financial year, all employees of the bargaining unit would receive a cost of living increase of 8.5 per cent, with effect from April 1, 2017.

The parties further agreed to increase holiday allowance from 4.5 per cent to 5.0 per cent with effect from April 1, 2017. The agreement between RSSC and SAMASA was yesterday made an order of the court by acting Industrial Court Judge Musa Sibandze.

According to the agreement, there would be no movement within the scale during the financial year 2017/18, as the amount reserved for this was consolidated into the cost of living adjustment.

“The parties formally record their undertaking to ensure that the Recognition Agreements are unified by the close of 2017/18 financial year which means there will be one Recognition Agreement between RSSC and SAMASA,” reads part of the collective agreement, which was yesterday made an order of court.

On the issue of bribery and graft, it was agreed that no employee shall give or accept bribes or graft (including any intention to bribe) in the course of his/her duties.

“The receipt or presentation of gifts whether seasonal or otherwise must be declared and shall only be permitted with a written authorisation from the managing director or his designated manager,” agreed the parties.
