MANZINI – Preliminary investigations in the kidnapping of businessman Almor Oliveira have revealed footage showing a BMW similar to the main suspect’s following the businessman’s car on the day of the kidnapping.

The police investigations had established that the possible hijackers could be people close to Oliveira and these included his tenants, employees and business partners.

Among these was Oliveira’s former tenant Qing Ming He, whom police were able to identify as the main suspect through the footage showing the BMW on April 16, 2017. In his written submissions, where he is opposing the application for bail for the accused, Senior Crown Counsel Macebo Nxumalo portrayed the duo of Qing and Dao Thanta Hue as key players in the kidnapping of the businessman.

Oliveira has been missing for a month now after he was reportedly kidnapped at his place of business in Matsapha on April 16. Investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, one from China and  the other from Vietnam, Qing and Hue.
The pair was arrested in Ezulwini and was found in possession of a 9mm revolver and a 12 Bore shotgun.

The police also found a licensed gun belonging to Qing, with suspected blood stains in the vehicle.
In his submissions, Senior Crown Counsel Nxumalo stated that police further obtained the lease agreement between the suspect and the victim which had Qing’s cellphone number that was no longer in use.
“In respect of the first applicant (Qing), the crown has led evidence to the effect that if released, he may attempt to evade trial. This is because he tried to search the cleaner’s pockets while in his cell in Matsapha. There is a strong suspicion that he was looking for the keys to escape from custody,” submitted the Crown.
