MANZINI – A woman who was brought in for questioning in connection with the murder of a taxi man jumped off a moving police van allegedly in a bid to escape from police custody.

This was reportedly the woman’s second attempt to escape as she suddenly disappeared from the Manzini Regional Police Headquarters last week Thursday, where she had been called in to assist police with information.
Information gathered is that the woman from Matsapha was Anthony ‘Skhulu’ Dlamini’s secret lover, who was one of the last people to be seen with him shortly before his death.

According to well-placed sources, after escaping from the regional headquarters, the woman went to her homestead in Matsapha where she took her children and left for Siteki.
The source said police went to look for her where she stayed in Ludzeludze but soon got wind that she had escaped to Siteki, where she was later found.

The source further said while at the back of the moving police van travelling to Manzini, the woman jumped off, and injured herself in the process.
Last week, several people known to Dlamini were called in to assist the police with information regarding his death. This included the woman who was believed to be his secret lover.
Dlamini was shot four times last week Sunday night and his body was dumped near Kae Kae Holiday Park.

The murderers went away with his car, a silver grey Honda Fit, and it was recovered abandoned at a car wash at Matsamo last Monday afternoon.`
The woman is said to have been invited by Dlamini to a date in one of the restaurants in town, but  she asked him to pick her from Ludzeludze as she was busy at that moment. Dlamini is said to have gone to fetch her and they dined at the restaurant before he hired another car to take her back home.

In the morning, the woman is said to have wondered why Dlamini had not called her and she decided to call him but his mobile phone was switched off.
The source said she then called one of his friends who then notified her that Dlamini was shot dead.

Confirming the two attempted escapes was Police Chief Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba. Mamba said the woman was currently recuperating at Good Shepherd Hospital in Siteki.
Further, Mamba said an inquiry on the woman’s escape has been opened. He stated that no arrests had yet been made.
