SITEKI – A local businessman has died after hanging himself.

His lifeless body was discovered by relatives hanging from a tree situated near the entrance to his parental homestead.
The businessman owned a butchery and other shops around Siteki. He also ran a public transport business, sources said.
A source said the businessman was from attending a church service when he committed suicide.

“From church, he went straight to his parental homestead and not his home. Upon reaching his parental homestead, he sent children to the shop and when they returned, they found his lifeless body hanging from a tree,” said the source.

It remains unknown why the businessman, who was also employed around Mhlume, decided to take his own life.
It was gathered that an autopsy was performed on the body at Good Shepherd Hospital yesterday morning.
However, his family could not be reached for comment at the time of compiling this report, hence the results of the autopsy could not be ascertained.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the incident.
Last week, a man was found hanging outside his friend’s house in Simunye.
Police said they believed that the man hanged himself but investigations were still ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased’s identity and personal details were not immediately ascertained.
However, information gathered was that the man had visited his friend who is employed at Simunye. A source said the body of the man was discovered by the friend.
