MBABANE -“I deserve the E150 000 reward.” This is how the 62-year-old plumber feels after unknowingly aiding the police to capture businessman Almor Oliveira’s alleged kidnappers.

*John said in as far as he was concerned; he played a crucial role in the apprehension of the Asian nationals by the police.
The plumber said the police had contacted him, posing as people who wanted to give him a plumbing tender. When they met, they used his phone to call the suspects who had not responded to police calls earlier.

Through John’s phone, the Asians answered and that is how they were found and arrested.
The three suspects are 42-year-old Zheng Renmel; 44-year-old Qing Ming He, who are both Chinese, and Vietnamese Dao Thanta Hue (34).

John said he was fully aware that the reward had been promised to anyone who would provide useful information to the police in finding the businessman. He said even though he was not the one who initially went to the police with the information, the bottom line was that the three suspects had been arrested.

“Even though the police tricked me into leading them to the suspects, I strongly believe that I deserve a share in the E150 000,” said John. He added that he had not gone to the police with the information voluntarily because he had no inkling that the trio would be involved in the case.

“I had no idea that the people I knew were the ones suspected in the case. If I was aware, I would have gone to the police myself to share the information,” he said.
John said he knew the trio prior to them moving to Ezulwini.
