NHLANGANO – Two textile factories are expected to establish a total of 1 100 jobs in Nhlangano.

One of the companies that have expanded its payroll impact to the economy of the fast growing town is FTM Garment Factory which hired a total of 700 early this month. This was after management realised the need to expand the company to the current site of the Nhlangano Industrial Estate.
Closer to the newly established wing of FTM Garments is Juries Manufacturing, which has also embarked on an incremental job creation and investment initiative which will see a number of 400 new textile workers being hired.

Elmon Ndlovu, the Human Resources Manager at the company, said there was still a long way to go and the factory was looking at expanding its production to include other products which they previously did not manufacture.
Currently Juries is manufacturing chinos, short pants, denim jeans and pyjamas but Ndlovu indicated that they were also exploring opportunities to expand on the apparel they make in order to include other items like work gear.

He disclosed that their newly expanded wing sits on 1 200 square metres of land, and that they were currently looking for people to operate sewing machines.

He said applicants must come to their premises at the Nhlangano Industrial Estate with their relevant documentation.
Textile production in Nhlangano is becoming increasingly profitable for the factories which have maintained their market in neighbouring South Africa, even after the loss of AGOA a few years ago. The country started to get more attention from the outside world after government couldn’t save several jobs in the textile industry through its failure to meet AGOA benchmarks.
