MBABANE – It’s game over for old money trade. The old coins trading business has since been closed following the tremendous turn out.

Ever since the Times Sunday published the story of a businessman, who is a collector of old money, not only have Swazis shown interest in trading their old coins and notes but others from as far as Piet Retief, in South Africa came to the kingdom.

Interested members of the public flooded the Times of Swaziland offices in search of the location of the collector. Due to the fact that the mobile number which had appeared in yesterday’s edition of the Times of Swaziland was no longer available, permission to direct members of the public to the businessman’s home was granted.

As a result, the collector said his premises were flooded by over 100 people who had come to sell their money. The businessman said this overwhelming turnout had gotten him more than he had expected, which was why he had decided to stop the trade. He thanked the public for their positive response and said he would let them know should he need more old money.

Even though he could not divulge the exact amount he disbursed yesterday, the collector said a handsome amount was paid for the oldest coins. Information gathered is that the older the money, the higher the price he paid.
