HLANE – Instead of being glued to the festivities of the buganu ceremony, many people found themselves staring at a Frenchman who was the tallest person at the ceremony with a height of 2.06 metres.

When the audience saw Paul Malliet coming through, they directed their gaze towards him and started debating about his height.
Some were already walking next to him just to compare their own height with his. As he got closer, it was obvious that there was no one matching his height among those who had come to watch the proceedings of the event.
In an interview, Malliet said he was from France and had come to Africa to visit Mozambique.

He said while in Mozambique, he felt like visiting Swaziland with his friends. “I only learnt about this event when I arrived in Swaziland today. It’s nice to see people gathered with their authorities,” he said. He added that he hadn’t tasted marula at the time he was interviewed.

Asked about his height, Malliet said he was 2.06 metres tall. “I am not the tallest man as there are some people who are taller than me in my country,” he said.
Previous records have shown that among the top 10 tallest people in the world, Robert Wadlow, who is 2.72 metres tall, takes the lead.
