MBABANE – Businessman Walter Bennett is embroiled in a court battle with the executor of the estate of the late owner or major shareholder of Tonkwane.

This comes after the executor allegedly sold some of the immovable properties to Dups Holdings (PTY) Limited for a sum of E28 million.
Bennett has since filed an application seeking an order interdicting the Registrar of Deeds from transferring the properties to Dups Holdings.
The executor of the estate, Alexander Macgregor, who is the son-in-law of the deceased owner, resides in South Africa and has been cited as the first respondent.

In his application Bennett stated that

the matter at hand related to a bequest made to him by the late Solveig Crabtree at one per cent of her assets either movable or immovable.
He mentioned that according to the Will, there were eleven beneficiaries including him.  Bennett informed the court that all the other beneficiaries were resident outside Swaziland, some in South Africa and others overseas.

“I have not joined the other beneficiaries because they have no direct and substantial interest in the prayers I seek, save for Sonia McGregor whom I have joined because she is a registered one per cent shareholder in two of the companies (T1 Property and T2 Property),” he stated.
These are allegations contained in court papers whose veracity is still to be tested in court. Bennett contended that the interest of the others would not be affected because he only wanted what had been allocated to him, which was clearly determined in percentages.

According to Bennett, the deceased (Solveig Crabtree) had 99 per cent shares while Sonia owned one per cent share in the two companies.
