MANZINI – A brave 15-year-old boy miraculously survived a crocodile attack after he thrust his arm into the wide open mouth of the giant reptile.

The incident took place at Black Mbuluzi River at Dvokolwako on Sunday at around 4pm.
Lomlibatisi Magagula, the grandmother of Lusanda Nyawo, said her grandchild went for fishing at the river together with his 17-year-old uncle. The teenagers attend school at Dvokolwako High School. Lusanda is doing Form II while his uncle is in Form V.

She said while they were fishing using a net, Lusanda put his hands in the water, searching for their fishing net.
While moving his hands around the water, his left arm got inside the wide open mouth of the dangerous reptile and it attacked him.
The grandmother said he immediately notified his uncle that something was biting him and he instructed him to assist him in pulling the net out of the water.

“His uncle pulled it from the top while Lusanda dragged it with his right hand from beneath. He wrestled with the dangerous reptile as they tried to pull it out of the river using the net. However, when it discovered that it was out of its territory, it let the teenage boy go by loosening its teeth,” the grand mother said.

It was also assumed that the crocodile let him go because it was chocked by the boy’s hand as it does not have a tongue.
The boy’s uncle took him a distance away from the river in fear that the reptile could attack them again.
He raised the alarm which drew the attention of people from the neighbouring homesteads.
