LOBAMBA – The House of Assembly has selected a seven-man committee to seek an audience with His Majesty King Mswati III to report that they were finding it impossible to work with Speaker Themba Msibi.

The seven were chosen yesterday afternoon during a caucus held in the House of Assembly, which dragged on for almost seven hours.
The seven include Motshane MP Phesheya Hlatshwayo, Mbabane West MP Johane Shongwe, Siphofaneni MP Gundwane Gamedze, Chief Whip and Mhlangatane MP Mbalekelwa Ndwandwe.

The rest of the team is made up of Lobamba MP Michael Masilela, Manzini South MP Owen Nxumalo and Gege MP Mbongiseni Malinga.
According to highly-placed sources, the private meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister, Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini, and almost all the MPs who were present made their submissions.

“Each person cited examples of incidents where the Speaker had acted in a manner that showed poor administration on his part,” said one MP.
It was reported that Timphisini MP Apton Ndlovu was one of the very few who supported the Speaker, while a majority of the MPs felt that Msibi should go because he had failed to properly execute his duties as Speaker, which made it impossible for the MPs to work.

In response, Msibi allegedly told the MPs that some of the allegations levelled against him were true, but some of them were totally false. “He said he was not afraid of anything and that he was still going to respond to the allegations levelled against him in writing and perhaps present them at another forum,” said another MP.

Some of the MPs said they could not work in Parliament if Msibi was still the Speaker and some had suggested that the Deputy Speaker Esther Dlamini, take over while the issue was being discussed.
