LUYENGO – The protracted dispute over the jurisdiction of Mhlabubovu, an area between LaMgabhi and Luyengo is far from over.

Chief Lembelele of Luyengo says he was shocked by reports that he no longer had jurisdiction over the land and would deal with the issue accordingly, after Friday, July 1, 2016. The chief said he would not focus on the dispute and the subsequent ruling on it, at least until he completed a pending royal assignment.

“Lena inebanikati bayo (that issue would be discussed in a rightful forum), I am focusing on the royal assignment,” he said.
He said this in an interview, after a community meeting that was hosted in the Luyengo Royal Residence yesterday. Yesterday’s meeting was convened to finalise preparations by the community, to facilitate the payment of the bride price (emalobolo) to a member of the royal family at Ludzidzini Royal Residence next weekend.

The chief has urged members of the community against resorting to violence following the ruling.
He said he would deal with it once he completed royal duties that were tasked to the chiefdom.

The chief said the Luyengo Royal Kraal (umphakatsi) was tasked by the royal family to prepare and facilitate the lobola ceremony for Princess Gcamane who married into a Sengwayo family of Mhlabubovu.
Princess Gcamane is a daughter of the late Prince Maguga, who was a chief of Macetjeni and KaMkhweli areas.

The lobola ceremony is scheduled for the weekend of July 1, 2016.
The chief’s reaction to the ruling against his chiefdom was that of shock and disbelief.
