EZULWINI - Pastor Buddy Msibi, a popular businessman who has built one of the most beautiful houses in this area, has been ordered to take down two sculptures he had fixed on his gate as decorations.

The sculptures were of a lion and elephant.
These animals are customarily and traditionally associated with His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Indlovukazi.
So important are they, that they are even depicted in the country’s coat-of-arms. The grand residence is situated in Ezulwini, along the Mbabane-Manzini main road and is visible to passers-by, due to the fact that it is a stone’s throw from the freeway.

Pastor Buddy said about two months ago, he got a call from his brother, Maseru Msibi, while he was in Johannesburg, informing him that four people, who claimed to be soldiers, had come to his home to order him to remove the sculptures.
Maseru said all he could recall was that they were fully clad in their uniform and were driving a white Toyota Corolla, with registration plates beginning with ‘S’.

Due to the passage of time, he could not recall some of the details because when the ‘soldiers’ arrived, he was shaking in fear. Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Dlamini, the new Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF) spokesperson, said he was still investigating as he was still new to the job.
He said it was unfortunate that no one from the Msibi residence was able to jot down the registration number of the army vehicle that allegedly visited the home about two months ago.

Dlamini said from what he had gathered so far, from the operational reports, there was no such incident reported.
The reason behind the order was that labadzala (the elders) were not happy because it looked as if Buddy’s home was a palace, while it was a private residence.
