MBABANE – Themba Xaba popularly known as ‘Mthmimbawawa’ has reported businessman Sabelo Mavuso to the police for allegedly threatening to shoot him.

Mavuso owns a large number of schools around Swaziland while Xaba is a well known Manzini socialite and TV presenter.
This incident is said to have happened in the afternoon of last week Thursday outside Inyatsi House (Tiger City).
Xaba alleged that the bone of contention was that he had told a friend that Mavuso once ventured into the business of selling chickens.

He said the friend then told Mavuso that he (Xaba) was vilifying him by saying he once ventured into such a business.
He further alleged that Mavuso then approached him and disclosed that he heard what he said about him and was not pleased.

“He told me he would shoot me and I thought he was joking. He then went to his car and took his gun and threatened to shoot me there and then,” Xaba alleged.
He alleged that the situation was saved by some of the people who were around, as they stopped them before the situation became nasty.

Reached for comment, Mavuso disputed the issue of the gun, but confirmed that he wanted to assault Xaba with open hands after he passed unpalatable words towards him.

Status

“He insulted me through a friend and it was not the first time. Unlike him I have a status of a businessman to protect. By saying I threatened him with a gun he is trying to aggravate the matter,” said Mavuso.

He said he could not repeat some of the words that were allegedly said by Xaba because of their defamatory nature.
Mavuso said he was not a violent person, instead was provoked by Xaba who passed unsavoury remarks towards him.
Senior Superintendent Vusi Masuku confirmed the matter, adding that Manzini police were currently investigating.
