BHUNYA – Two unionists were kicked out of a SEIWU meeting for being rowdy and demanding answers from its leadership.

This happened during a meeting held by SEIWU and workers under Gundane & Sons at Montigny.
The two rowdy unionists, who are also shop stewards, are Khanyakweze Maseko and Sozabile Dlamini.

Claimed

The unionists claimed that they were kicked out of the meeting  because they were being victimised for going to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security on behalf of Gundane & Sons workers to get answers on the issue of unpaid leave and why there was a deduction of pension money worth  E28 from their monthly salaries without their consent.

They further claimed that SEIWU President Mashumi Shongwe kicked them out of the meeting and allegedly sacked them from the union. When reached for comment, Shongwe dismissed the news that Maseko and Dlamini were sacked from SEIWU but clarified that they were kicked out of a meeting that was held at Montigny with the workers because the two were disturbing that meeting’s proceedings.

Appear

He also added that Maseko and Dlamini were to appear before SEIWU’s disciplinary committee for their rowdy behaviour during the meeting.
He also confirmed that Maseko and Dlamini did go to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security but on their own behalf and were not representing workers.

“The two are failing to comply with SEIWU’s regulations. They want things to be done in their way,” Shongwe said.
When asked about the unpaid leave, Shongwe said, “As far as I know all leaves were being paid and if anyone’s leave is not being paid he/she should consult with his/her employer.”
