MBABANE – The Municipal Council of Mbabane has once again suspended Ward 1 Councillor Nganono Manyatsi for another two months.

Manyatsi’s second suspension came at a time when he was still  serving two months suspension after he was found guilty of sending an improper short message (SMS) to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO ) Gideon Mhlongo.

He is expected to start serving his second two months suspension after the expiration of the current suspension. His first suspension was reported in March this year.

Challenging

Manyatsi is challenging his first suspension in the High Court and the matter is still pending.
This time around, Manyatsi has been suspended for breaching the Council’s code in that he instructed a driver of a tipper truck belonging to Roots Construction to illegally dump soil spoils/debris at an open space in Mahwalalala Zone 6. This incident is alleged to have happened on December 9, 2015.

He was also found guilty of having directed the council’s Acting Director Community Services, Ellen Matsenjwa, to cancel a meeting she had convened on the illegal dumping of soil by Roots Construction, claiming that he was involved in the matter.

According to the council, this act amounted to interference in administration.
Manyatsi was further found guilty of misrepresenting himself as having authority to divert or instruct the truck to dump the soil in the open space or plot.

Dumping

This was allegedly in contrary of the permit issued by the council which directed that the dumping of the soil be done at a landfill.
He is said to have misrepresented himself by giving the driver of the truck his council’s business card to further mislead him (truck driver) to believe that he possessed such authority.
