MBABANE – The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Gideon Dlamini, is looking forward to the unleashing of an economic power of the body of Christ in Swaziland once all Christians are members of a cooperative.

Dlamini said the idea was that once all church bodies have registered their cooperative, it should be possible to then form the largest national cooperative federation in the land so that an unprecedented unleashing of the economic power of the body of Christ in the country can be experienced.

Dlamini made these remarks during the official launch of the Vibrant Lifestyle Cooperative Society, which is under the Swaziland Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, on Monday.
He said the formation of the national body would make it easy for government organs and other partners to support the programme of  ‘Vision 2022 for Christ’.

“From the onset, I want to reiterate that His Majesty the King’s government, by its nature, and as per the country’s Constitution, is non-discriminatory and will support any faith-based noble initiative, including non-Christians,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini said last year saw the launch of ‘Vision 2022 for Christ’, which comprises five church umbrella bodies, namely; the Swaziland Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Council of Swaziland Churches, the League of African Churches, Swaziland Conference of Churches as well as the International Tabernacle.

“I am happy to mention that Vibrant Lifestyle Multipurpose Cooperative Society, representing the SDA, is the second of the five church bodies to register their cooperative,” he said.
The first one was Akwandze Multi-Purpose Cooperative representing Conference of Churches in December 2015.
