COP ARRESTED OVER THEFT OF RSP QUANTUM TYRES, RIMS

MBABANE – A police officer has been arrested with his neighbour in connection with the theft of Dunlop tyres and rims from a Royal Swaziland Police Toyota Quantum.


It is alleged that the law enforcer and his neighbour committed the offence on several occasions at the new police camp at Msunduza where they allegedly stole the tyres valued at E3 000.
According to the charge sheet, the duo allegedly contravened Section 12 (1) (2) of the Theft of Motor Vehicle Act in that upon or about April 21, 2016, at or near Msunduza new police camp, they entered a Toyota Quantum registered MSD 579 BH with intent to steal and theft.


The duo is accused of stealing from the Toyota Quantum, Dunlop complete wheel size 195/15 valued at E1 500, which was in the lawful possession of George Mahlalela.
They are also accused of stealing  a similar Dunlop complete wheel size 195/15 and rims valued at E1 500 in the same Toyota Quantum, which was in the lawful possession of Charles Shongwe on the day.


Emmanuel Nkosinathi Ngwenya and Nkosinathi Mavimbela, both from Nsenga, made their appearance before Mbabane Magistrate Philisiwe Simelane  yesterday. They were charged with four counts of theft.
When their rights to legal representation and rights to apply for bail before the court were explained to them, Ngwenya opted to instruct an attorney, while Mavimbela said he would conduct his own defence.
